COCHRANE LIBRARY USERS’ GROUP (CLUG) REPORT TO THE STEERING GROUP

  1. How many meetings, and of what type (e.g. face-to-face, by teleconference), has your Advisory Group had since October 2004?

One.

Is this what you expected when you set your budget for the year?

I did not set the budget for 2005 so I am not sure of the expectations.

  1. Supply an up-to-date list of the members of your Advisory Group.

The convening group currently comprises Emma Irvin, Quenby Mahood, and Doreen Day of the Institute for Work and Health.  The CLUG membership at last count was 512 (up from 470 in September 03).  Godwin Aja and Peter Tugwell represent the Steering Group on the CLUG.

  1. Summarise any significant actions taken by your Advisory Group since your last report (for the CCSG meeting in Ottawa in October 2004), and significant actions planned for the next six months until the next meeting of the CCSG in Providence in April 2005.

The CLUG convenor has been encouraging the CLUG to participate as part of the  CD Rom test group.

The CLUG will continue to provide feedback on developments with the new Wiley interface and to seek clarification on any of the issues.

The  CLUG requests that the Steering Group attempts, where appropriate, to keep the membership informed of any developments that may pertain to them.

  1. Does your Advisory Group have any questions that you would like the Steering Group to answer?  If so, please list them.

Recognizing that not all of its members may have up to date computer systems, CLUG has a concern about the size of the Wiley CD-Rom version of CLIB and therefore some of the issues that this will pose for installation. We would like to know what, if any measures, may be undertaken to make sure that the CD-Rom is available to all of its users. We are aware that this topic will be discussed at the PPG conference call on 8 March 2005, and will be part of the PPG report to CCSG.

  1. Does your Advisory Group wish to raise any problems, and recommended solutions, which you would like the Steering Group to discuss?  If so, please list them.

    No.

  2. Do you foresee any problems in keeping within the budget you submitted for the current financial year (April 2004 to March 2005)?

I have not submitted a budget for the current financial year.

  1. What are your budgetary requirements for the period April 2005 to March 2006?  Please provide a breakdown if appropriate.  (As a reminder, the Steering Group sets the budget for each Group at its non-Colloquium meeting.)

Our budgetary requirements for April 2005 to March 2006 would be for a CLUG day and its promotion, say, £1,600.

Emma Irvin,

Convenor, Cochrane Library Users’ Group

25 February 2005.
