Nicholas HenschkeNicholas Henschke - Senior Systematic Reviewer

Nicholas’ research and teaching background is in evidence-based medicine and the epidemiology of musculoskeletal conditions. Nicholas has a Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy and PhD from the University of Sydney, and has since held academic research positions in the Netherlands, Australia and Germany. Throughout his research career he has been responsible for the planning, initiation, conduct, analysis and publication of numerous systematic reviews, publishing his first Cochrane systematic review in 2010. His role in these review teams often includes assisting with protocol development, literature searching and screening of article titles, data extraction and assimilation.

 

 

Gemma VillanuevaGemma Villanueva - Senior Systematic Reviewer

Gemma is a skilled systematic reviewer with experience in guideline development and health technology assessment. She has also participated in FPVII funded projects, including ALCOVE and EUnetHTA. She holds a degree in Psychology and a MSc in Health Psychology from University College London. Prior to working at Cochrane Response, Gemma worked as a senior systematic reviewer for the National Guideline Alliance (NICE collaborating centre) in the areas of children and women’s health, social care and cancer. Her role included assisting with guideline scope development, protocol development, screening of articles, data extraction and analysis, and guideline writing. She has experience using GRADE methodology in both systematic reviews and guidelines.

 

 

Hanna BergmanHanna Bergman - Systematic Reviewer

Prior to working at Cochrane Response, Hanna worked as a senior researcher and project manager at Enhance Reviews Ltd, an evidence synthesis company. Hanna was born and raised in Sweden and has an MSc in Biomedicine from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. Experienced with all tasks and stages of preparing and updating systematic reviews and evidence reports, Hanna has thorough knowledge of both Cochrane and WHO systematic review methodology. She has authored several Cochrane reviews, including diagnostic test accuracy reviews, and has also worked on knowledge translation projects helping to make evidence accessible to the public and to policy makers.

 

 

Brian BuckleyBrian Buckley - Systematic Reviewer

Brian Buckley (PhD) is a health services researcher from Belfast, Northern Ireland. After studying and then working as a research fellow in the Department of General Practice at the National University of Ireland, Galway, he moved to Asia in 2009. He is a Visiting Professor at the National University of the Philippines and at Wuhan University, Hubei, China, and also works as a consultant with the WHO (Western Pacific Region). He has been involved in the design and conduct of clinical trials and observational studies and has published widely. He is an editor and author with the Cochrane Incontinence Group and an author with several other groups. He was a member of the technology appraisal committee of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence for seven years. As well as being a health services researcher, he is an experienced patient advocate, and was Chairman of the UK Bladder and Bowel Foundation for five years. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the Institute of Applied Health Sciences, University of Aberdeen, Scotland.

 

 

Elise CogoElise Cogo - Systematic Reviewer

Elise is an epidemiologist, naturopathic doctor and information scientist with over 13 years of research experience, and she has co-authored 30 journal publications. She was previously the unit head for clinical trials assessment at Health Canada’s Natural Health Products Directorate, and she has also worked for several systematic review organisations. Elise was a member of the international CIOMS X working group on meta-analysis of drug safety data, the CONSORT Extension for N-of-1 Trials (CENT) consensus meeting, and the CONSORT Harms update Delphi panel.

 

 

Jennifer PetkovicJennifer Petkovic - Systematic Reviewer

Jennifer has been an author with Cochrane since 2008 and has worked as the Coordinator of the Equity Methods Group since 2011. She has a MSc in Population and Public Health and has recently completed her PhD which included a systematic review examining the effectiveness of evidence summaries on health policymakers and health system managers use of evidence from systematic reviews. She has experience with all stages of preparing systematic reviews and thorough knowledge of Cochrane systematic review methodology.

 

 

Gemma VillanuevaKatrin Probyn - Systematic Reviewer

Katrin has a Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy and a Master of Public Health from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany. She has worked clinically in different settings as a physiotherapist and in research,  on various chronic pain and rehabilitation related subjects. Prior to joining Cochrane Response, Katrin held an academic research position at Royal Holloway University of London working in the development of complex health interventions for clinical trials. Katrin has experience of all stages of preparing, conducing and publishing systematic reviews and meta-analyses.She has also peer-reviewed systematic reviews for a variety of academic journals and conducted academic workshops on systematic review methodology.

 

 

Yanina SguasseroYanina Sguassero - Systematic Reviewer

Yanina is a paediatrician and systematic reviewer who has been involved with Cochrane since 2005. In addition to being a Cochrane author, she has served as a systematic review trainer and editor assistant for the Cochrane Developmental, Psychosocial and Learning Problems Group. Yanina worked for almost 20 years at Centro Rosarino de Estudios Perinatales, an Argentinian Cochrane centre. WHO TDR's new impact grants program awarded her a research grant in 2013. She obtained her PhD in biomedical sciences after completing a systematic review and meta-analysis of individual participant data aimed at assessing the course of serological and parasitological tests in treated children and adults with chronic Chagas disease. At present, Yanina is pursuing a degree in English translation

Meghan is an epidemiologist and health researcher from Canada with expertise in knowledge synthesis. She holds a Master of Public Health in Global Health and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology. Prior to joining Cochrane Response, Meghan was the Program Coordinator for Knowledge Synthesis with the Alberta Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research and has been involved in numerous systematic reviews across multiple disciplines. She has taught workshops on knowledge synthesis, Cochrane Standard Author Training modules, and is a member of the Cochrane Training Network.
