Cochrane’s Central Editorial Service aims to support Review Group Networks to deliver reviews identified as high priority in their strategic plan.
We collaborate with the Network and relevant Cochrane Review Group to ensure the expedited publication of high-quality reviews. Editorial resources are increased by drawing on the combined expertise of the Editorial and Methods Department, relevant Cochrane Review Group, Network and Methods groups to ensure a rapid and streamlined editorial process.
As your prioritisation strategies become established, please consider using Cochrane’s Central Editorial Service for your Network’s top priority reviews.
We will also work with you to address gaps in topic coverage: Network Support Fellows may provide hands on support in authoring reviews, with the resulting reviews published through the Central Editorial Service.
We invite Senior and Associate Editors to sit on the Central Editorial Service Advisory Group when decisions regard reviews from their Network. This may involve participation in decisions to accept or reject reviews from the Central Editorial Service, to advise on content, or to recommend peer referees. Associate Editors will be asked to provide methodological comments on reviews from their Networks.
As we expect the number of reviews processed through the Central Editorial Service per year to begin at 16-24 reviews, this will amount to an average of 2-3 reviews per Network per year in 2019/20.
