Misinformation and distortion of clinical research results:
Understanding the concept of "spin" in publications, press releases and the media.
Identifying methods of distortion (e.g., selective presentation of results, etc).
* Session 2 - Between January and April 2024
Critical appraisal of randomized clinical trials
Develop skills to critically appraise randomized clinical trial publications (peer-review and preprints).
Identify common pitfalls when interpreting clinical trials, such as undisclosed conflicts of interest, risk of bias, validity and generalizability of study results.
* Session 3 - Between January and April 2024
Principles of systematic reviews and meta-analyses
Cover the fundamentals of systematic reviews, including protocol development, literature search strategies, bias assessment, interpretation of results.
Be familiar with new methods (dynamic meta-analyses).
Pitfalls to avoid: Highlight common pitfalls when conducting or interpreting systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
