Trainings, learning opportunities, workshops, Evidence production, Dissemination / Knowledge Translation
We have attempted to obtain NIH grants with no luck. We would like to ask for technical assistance to obtain funding.
The Tufts team has actively participated in several initiatives that support professional growth and knowledge transmission. By hosting frequent author training seminars both domestically and internationally, we have contributed to strengthening research skills. Our community has benefited from the excellent mentoring that the Mentor Training program has fostered, leading to significant experience transfer. The Tufts Systematic Review Course, accredited by CEPH, provides medical professionals and postgraduate students with information on performing excellent systematic reviews.
Other trainings included Cochrane Author training for the Nutritionists at Rutgers University (July 2023) and the training for the International Conference of Twinning (October 2023). This summer, we had a training for individuals from 8 different countries as well as the Tufts community. Our next training is in November 2024. We have actively produced tools for the Cochrane US Network and the Tufts community in terms of knowledge translation. Important initiatives have come from our collaboration with the World Health Organization, such as a scoping review of surgical safety checklists for cesarean sections. We showed our commitment to advancing evidence synthesis and health scientific writing, and at the same time, we applied for funding from the National Association of Scientific Writers, AHRQ, PCORI, and the National Institutes of Health.
Our individually chosen Cochrane Research Fellows have been essential in project management, data exchange, and event organization. Tufts schools and affiliates work together with the shared goal of enhancing health outcomes. We are actively involved in the Cochrane Mentorship Program, which helps residents, MDs, and MPH students develop their skill sets. We are committed to relevant research and evidence-based healthcare, as seen by our participation in various Cochrane programs and our ongoing systematic reviews.
For the past three years, we have worked alongside the International Twin Register to offer training across international borders. In addition, we have raised funding, organized author training workshops, and started a collaboration with EMRO/WHO. We have helped the Rutgers School of Nursing submit Cochrane protocols to register titles. To generate and update Cochrane reviews, train fellows, and inform stakeholders at Tufts and Indiana, we have collaborated closely with Indiana University. We collaborate with Ohio State University, Harvard University, and Brown University, mentoring Cochrane mentees from various places and working together on joint grant-writing projects. With regional partners like Tufts School of Medicine's CTSI, we have completed systematic reviews and co-authored grants to further our collaborative efforts.
Through our systematic review courses, we have increased the ability to evaluate and synthesize evidence for researchers and healthcare professionals, raising the caliber of research in our area.
By June 2025, Tufts hopes to support the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Network of Institutions for Evidence and Data to Policy (NEDtP). There is a continuing partnership for systematic review training with Western University in Ontario, Canada. An application was submitted for a Mary Y. Lee CSL Faculty Mini-Grant to fund the project "Community Engaged Research: Systematic Review Capacity Building among High School Teachers." The next highest priority is the Tisch College Community Research Center seed money for 2024–2025. The William T. Foundation is investigating AI applications to assist practitioners in juvenile health in implementing more effective methods. We sent four abstracts awaiting acceptance to the Cochrane Global Evidence Summit. Additional efforts include close collaboration with the US Network for grant submission, establishing connections with the WHO office on maternal and child health, holding internal talks at Tufts to emphasize the importance of Cochrane systematic reviews, and providing mentees with domestic and international support.
We also support the Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health thematic group, a newly formed group. This replaces the Pregnancy Childbirth Sattelite group, which Dr. Jahanfar was the co-director of for the past five years. We hope that our past activities would be recognized.
