Cochrane Russia translates and records Cochrane podcasts in Russian language on a regular basis, now with active involvement of our volunteer translators. This podcast was translated and recorded by Cochrane Russian volunteer Saida Hkarisova. It is of special importance that the review is very relevant to Russian, post-Soviet, Eastern European and Asian health systems. The high relevance reflects the heavy promotion of alfa-lipoic acid for the treatment of nerve damage in people with diabetes mellitus. The Cochrane Review found no benefit of alfa-lipoic acid, so we translate and disseminate this new Cochrane knowledge to inform both clinical practice and research agenda.
