On December 5, 2024, Dr. Dhite Bayu Nugroho, a member of Cochrane Indonesia and the Indonesian Young Academy of Sciences (ALMI), will participate in the "Scientist Goes to School!" program. He will present an engaging session titled "The Role of Cochrane Collaboration in Combating Infodemics and Health Disinformation." Dr. Nugroho will introduce Cochrane as a global organization committed to providing trustworthy medical information through tools like Plain Language Summaries (PLS), which simplify complex research findings into accessible explanations. He will discuss the dangers of health misinformation and infodemics, using relatable examples like myths about vaccines, and emphasize the importance of credible sources and critical thinking.

The session will feature interactive activities where students will debunk health myths through a quiz and create their own simple evidence-based health summaries. Dr. Nugroho will inspire students to be advocates for accurate health information, encouraging them to challenge rumors and share reliable facts with their communities. By the end, students will gain an understanding of the importance of evidence-based information and be introduced to free Cochrane resources available online, including those in Bahasa Indonesia.
