Knowledge translation: The Nurse Consultant (Community) of Hong Kong Easter Cluster and Nursing Services Department of the Hospital Authority are collaborating with Cochrane Hong Kong to conduct a multicenter prospective study to assess whether point-of-care ultrasonography is sensitive and specific enough to detect the correct placement of nasogastric tubes using the reference standards of radiography. The study results will be used to develop evidence-based clinical guidelines regarding the insertion and confirmation of placement of nasogastric tubes in adults. Our recruitment is currently taking place across 38 general medical and geriatric wards in four acute and rehabilitation hospitals and 6 community centres in five hospital clusters.
